Highlights

Bush Skills Camp

Bush Skills Camp

The Scouts had a fantastic time at Rook's bush skills camp in march. The Scouts evaded bandits while developing their survival skills before sleeping the night in survival shelters.

Brisbane CBD Exploration

Brisbane CBD Exploration

Due to the recent cyclone we relocated our planned Springbrook bushwalk to the CBD. We tried every bit of public transport we could including buses, trains, citycats and the new Brisbane metro as well as trying out the new Neville Bonner and Kangaroo Point bridges. A quick MapRun nav comp at New Farm Park before we headed back for ice cream at Southbank.

Masterchef

Masterchef

Before moving to Venturers, our unit leader, Lucy, ran a Masterchef night. One of the best Wednesday nights we've had, the Scouts competed with cooking skills including separating eggs, making meringue, identifying spices and careful tasting of jelly! And best of all our mates from Priestdale joined us to make the fun even bigger.

District Camp

District Camp

Underwood had a fantastic time at Logan District Camp with wins in the competition dinner, construction, and first aid areas. The patrols worked together, took on feedback from Grasshopper and the youth leaders continued to develop the younger scouts.

Australian Scout Award — Lucy

Australian Scout Award — Lucy

Lucy has been awarded the Australian Scout Award at Underwood, recognizing her impressive range of activities. From leading a three-day hike on North Stradbroke Island to programming her own computer game, Lucy has demonstrated remarkable leadership and creativity throughout her Scouting journey.

Peak Award Patrol

Underwood launched the inaugural Peak Award Patrol — a dedicated group for Scouts pursuing their peak award, meeting irregularly to encourage each other and plan the steps needed to reach their goal.

Knight Moves

Knight Moves

We returned to Knight Moves in 2025 at Karingal for a very wet night (knight?) of navigation and challenge bases. Despite the wet conditions the Scouts still had a fantastic time and Octopus patrol were happy to make it into the top 10 with a 7th place finish.

Tyakunda Trailblazer

Tyakunda Trailblazer

We returned to Trailblazer in July with 3 Scout patrols, including The Sloths who walked away with the win in the Scout section of the event.

Ikea Bike Ride

Ikea Bike Ride

What do you do when you're a Scout and you want hotdogs? Organise a bike ride to Ikea! The Scout section used the V1 and Slacks Creek Bikeways to ride from the den to Ikea and back with a stop to buy hot dogs, ice cream and... wombats!?!

Girraween National Park Adventure

Girraween National Park Adventure

Six Underwood Scouts embarked on an exhilarating 39km journey around Girraween National Park, showcasing their skills with minimal leader supervision. Over three days, they traversed from Underground Creek to Dingo Swamp, scrambled to the top of South Bald Rock, and tackled the steep ascent of Mt Norman. Each Scout brought a different level of bushwalking experience, yet all contributed to the success of the trip, culminating in a well-deserved lemonade and fast food dinner in Warwick.

Karingal Scout Camp

Karingal Scout Camp

Last weekend, Scouts enjoyed an exciting camp at Karingal Scout Campsite, where they experienced canoeing on the dam and tried mountain biking for the first time. In addition to these thrilling activities, participants engaged in traditional camping fun, including night games and cooking delicious three-course meals over a campfire. The weekend was filled with adventure and camaraderie, creating lasting memories for all involved.

Personal Development Course

Personal Development Course

Seven Scouts spent the weekend learning about leadership at the 2025 Logan Scout Personal Development Course this weekend. Our patrols are in good hands and we even had some potential future leaders facing challenges in teamwork and leadership. We're looking forward to seeing them practicing their new skills in the next year.

North Stradbroke Island Day Trip

North Stradbroke Island Day Trip

A fantastic end to the year saw the Scouts enjoying a memorable day trip to North Stradbroke Island. Participants engaged in swimming, building sand sculptures, and racing down the iconic sand hill, while also taking a scenic walk around North Gorge. The group was thrilled to spot turtles, kangaroos, and an osprey in action, making the day even more special. With gelati in hand, the Scouts left inspired and excited for next year's adventures.

Australian Scout Award Ceremony

Australian Scout Award Ceremony

Oscar and Tom celebrated a significant milestone by receiving their Australian Scout Awards at Underwood, marking their third peak award. Both have previously earned the Joey Promise Challenge and Grey Wolf Awards, making them the first youth to achieve this feat at Underwood. Their journey included leading a challenging three-day hike, mastering chess, and even creating a navigation game that has been utilized in district events, showcasing their diverse skills and dedication to Scouting.
