Highlights

Bush Skills Camp

Bush Skills Camp

The Scouts had a fantastic time at Rook's bush skills camp in march. The Scouts evaded bandits while developing their survival skills before sleeping the night in survival shelters.

Brisbane CBD Exploration

Brisbane CBD Exploration

Due to the recent cyclone we relocated our planned Springbrook bushwalk to the CBD. We tried every bit of public transport we could including buses, trains, citycats and the new Brisbane metro as well as trying out the new Neville Bonner and Kangaroo Point bridges. A quick MapRun nav comp at New Farm Park before we headed back for ice cream at Southbank.

Masterchef Night

Masterchef Night

Before moving to Venturers, our unit leader, Lucy, ran a Masterchef night. One of the best Wednesday nights we've had, the Scouts competed with cooking skills including separating eggs, making meringue, identifying spices and careful tasting of jelly! And best of all our mates from Priestdale joined us to make the fun even bigger.

Logan District Camp

Logan District Camp

Underwood had a fantastic time at Logan District Camp with wins in the competition dinner, construction, and first aid areas. The patrols worked together, took on feedback from Grasshopper and the youth leaders continued to develop the younger scouts.

Australian Scout Award — Lucy

Australian Scout Award — Lucy

BRAVO to Lucy, our latest peak awardee — she picked up her Australian Scout Award at last month's ARP. Along the way she led a 3-day hike on North Stradbroke Island, programmed her own computer game, built towers and bridges from poles and rope, learnt to climb (and rappel down) cliffs, and led her patrol — and the whole unit — through all sorts of activities and camps.

Peak Award Patrol

Underwood launched the inaugural Peak Award Patrol — a dedicated group for Scouts pursuing their peak award, meeting irregularly to encourage each other and plan the steps needed to reach their goal.

Knight Moves

Knight Moves

We returned to Knight Moves in 2025 at Karingal for a very wet night (knight?) of navigation and challenge bases. Despite the wet conditions the Scouts still had a fantastic time and Octopus patrol were happy to make it into the top 10 with a 7th place finish.

Tyakunda Trailblazer

Tyakunda Trailblazer

We returned to Trailblazer in July with 3 Scout patrols, including The Sloths who walked away with the win in the Scout section of the event.

Ikea Bike Ride

Ikea Bike Ride

What do you do when you're a Scout and you want hotdogs? Organise a bike ride to Ikea! The Scout section used the V1 and Slacks Creek Bikeways to ride from the den to Ikea and back with a stop to buy hot dogs, ice cream and... wombats!?!

Girraween National Park 3-Day Trek

Girraween National Park 3-Day Trek

Six of our Scouts completed a 3-day, 39km journey around Girraween National Park with minimal leader supervision — Underground Creek to Dingo Swamp, a scramble up South Bald Rock, and a very steep climb up Mt Norman with full packs before walking out via Turtle Rock, The Sphinx and Castle Rock. A great result for a group with a real mix of bushwalking experience, capped off with lemonade and fast food in Warwick on the way home.

Karingal Scout Camp

Karingal Scout Camp

Our Scouts had a fantastic camp at Karingal Scout Campsite — canoeing on the dam, a first taste of mountain biking for many, and our usual camp favourites of night games and three-course meals cooked over the fire.

Logan Personal Development Course

Logan Personal Development Course

Seven Scouts spent the weekend learning about leadership at the 2025 Logan Scout Personal Development Course this weekend. Our patrols are in good hands and we even had some potential future leaders facing challenges in teamwork and leadership. We're looking forward to seeing them practicing their new skills in the next year.

North Stradbroke Island Day Trip

North Stradbroke Island Day Trip

A fantastic end to the year for our Scout section with a day trip to North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) — swimming, burying people in the sand, running down the sand hill, a walk around North Gorge, and the all-important gelati. We were lucky enough to spot a few turtles, some kangaroos, and an osprey with a fish in its talons.

Australian Scout Award — Oscar & Tom

Australian Scout Award — Oscar & Tom

BRAVO to Oscar and Tom, our newest Australian Scout Award recipients — the third peak award for both, and the first two youth at Underwood to complete Joey Promise Challenge, Grey Wolf, and Australian Scout Award. Between them they led a 3-day hike at Girraween, built bush navigation skills that helped win Tyakunda Trailblazer, learnt chess and piano, carved turtles and gnomes, and even filmed a Lord of the Rings parody with their patrol.
